About Me
I got my first working border collie, Frank, in 2009. Frank took me from Novice to Open in USBCHA, I also earned my first open placements with Frank. He was a wonderful first dog and incredibly forgiving of all my beginner mistakes. I now compete in USBCHA trials all over the country, and my dogs have been competitive at some of the most challenging and prestigious trials in the United States. To see my dogs’ trial accomplishments, please view their individual pages.
I have trained and helped others train many border collies of different working styles. Through working with the natural talent within border collies, I train them to be both invaluable partners on the farm and polished competitors on the trial field.
I live on a farm in Vonore, TN where I raise North Country Cheviot Sheep and train border collies full time. I breed a few litters of border collies a year, which enables me to keep new prospects to train and trial, as well as personally evaluate what my dogs are producing in the next generation.
Breeding Philosophy
I believe that working livestock creates the best border collies. My goal is to produce dogs that I enjoy training and trialing with, that can compete in the upper levels of sheepdog trials. This rigorous selection process has also created dogs that are fun and competitive in various sport venues.
Temperament and health of my breeding dogs is important to me. I want my dogs to be mentally sound and have long careers, without pain that can come from the various genetic disorders that affect border collies.
I love spending time with my litters and enjoy getting to know them in order to match them best to their new owners. They’re exposed to many different sights, sounds, and experiences before they leave my farm for their new lives. Temperament is primarily genetic, and I do my best to make sure my puppies get the best start possible through my breeding and rearing.
